Nagoya International IP Firm is the largest firm in Aichi prefecture* (as of July 2023) with around 80 members, including 20 Japanese patent and trademark attorneys and 1 China patent bar qualification holder.
We have professionals in various fields of expertise, and respond to a wide variety of requests from our clients different in company size. We make collective efforts to allow our clients to trust us with handling any cases, including our clients’ important cases and technically difficult cases.

We have expert attorneys, including 20 Japanese patent and trademark attorneys and 1 China patent bar qualification holder, for various services, such as patent services, design services, trademark services, international IP services, and dispute-related services.
Both the patent and trademark attorneys and the supporting (patent) technical engineers are in various different fields of expertise. Two or more patent and trademark attorneys and technical engineers cover each of the wide variety of technical fields, such as electrical and electronic engineering (EE Eng), information technology (IT), mechanical engineering (Mech Eng), chemistry (Chem), physics (Phys), biotechnology and pharmaceuticals (Bio/Pharm).
We have been providing services to more than 900 clients ranging from large companies to small and medium-sized businesses each year, and are able to meet various needs.
Our firm is highly esteemed for its ability to deal with technologies requiring higher expertise, and has been entrusted by universities and research institutes with filing more than 200 patent applications in the last 5 years (as of October 2021).

We assume each client’s intended position after obtaining rights, taking the differences in laws and standards in respective countries into consideration, to perform efficient and precise procedures. In every case related to intellectual property in Japan that is entrusted by an international client (client outside of Japan), we will give easily understandable explanation to the international client and will obtain strong rights while maximizing cost performance, based on our experience of dealing with IP cases in many countries.
Values of rights obtained by applications depend largely upon an application strategy. We propose an application strategy to obtain rights that would be more valuable to each client’s business, rather than to aim to simply obtain rights, by using our knowledge acquired through experience of business with clients ranging from large companies to small and medium-sized companies in various fields and countries.

Nagoya International IP Firm provides proposals in light of the management standpoint and perspective, based on our extensive experience, so that our clients can feel encouraged to develop business both in Japanese and foreign markets.
We have been continuously providing global-level support, and about half of our sales comes from foreign related cases. We have extensive experience ranging from filing applications to handling IP-related negotiations and litigations at the request of foreign companies in connection with intellectual properties in Japan.
We have partnered and cooperated with over 1000 foreign IP law firms (local agents) and established a structure that allows us to undertake procedures in over 200 countries and regions in North America, South America, Europe, Asia, Oceania, and Africa. Among those, more than 100 countries and regions are frequent locations of our international operation. This accomplishment and experiences have made us specialized in IP systems and customs of IP practice of many foreign countries, which benefits our international clients entrusting us with cases of Japanese patents. We are capable of intelligibly explaining the differences in systems and practices between Japan and foreign countries in our proposals for practical approaches in the Japanese patent practice.

We perform proper search and analysis of other companies’ rights that may cause a potential risk to our client’s business and of how to deal with those rights. We also perform proper search and analysis of what rights should be obtained in what manner in light of competitors’ moves. Through the search and analysis, we support our clients’ management of intellectual properties with minimum cost and maximum return.
Our experience of accomplishing various search requests enables us to properly perform search and analysis in consideration of the status of our clients’ business.

In various cases in and out of Japan, we of course handle clerical matters precisely, and send reminders of the deadlines promptly and timely. In addition, we give attentive and easily understandable explanation regarding complicated procedures.
In IP services, a minor mistake may result in serious disadvantage. We have achieved a comprehensive management covering preparation of drafts through to filing formal documents with patent offices by means of our uniquely-developed IT system, thus has established a highly reliable and safe operating environment. Also, we have uniquely established a proper IP management system tailored to the different systems of respective countries based on our experience of filing applications in Japan and many foreign countries.
Moreover, at the request of our clients, we propose and develop operation standards, operation manuals, etc. in relation to IP management for the clients’ internal use.
